Tax Law

Tax law creeps into the most unexpected contexts; even in the context of ordinary inheritance settlements, making mistakes can be costly.

Value Added Tax (VAT)
When should the company register for VAT? Is it advantageous to apply for voluntary registration? How to report VAT for sales to and purchases from abroad? VAT can be complex, and we can assist you in getting your VAT reporting right from the outset. If you're a foreign supplier with customers in Norway, there's much to consider.

Corporate Tax
Corporate taxation is a comprehensive topic, where the outcome often depends on how the business is organized. Is it related to business income or capital gains? How are dividends handled, and can the company utilize group contributions? What about carrying forward tax losses from previous years? Whether you're an AS or Sole Proprietorship, tax management and calculation differ significantly.

Personal Taxation
Although we have many businesses as clients, we can also provide assistance with personal taxation. Personal taxation often intertwines closely with businesses one owns, especially concerning wealth tax. For many, ownership in a business is a significant part of their wealth, and funds for paying wealth tax must come from this. Whether it's dividends, repayment of loans, or reduction of share capital, the consequences can vary significantly.

Foreign Entities
Whether a foreign entity becomes liable to tax in Norway depends on several factors, including whether there's a permanent establishment in Norway. For a foreign entity with Norwegian customers, it's crucial to structure this correctly to avoid unnecessary tax complications.

Cross-Border Activity
In a fully digitalized world, it's increasingly easier to offer goods and services outside one's home country. Since Norway is not alone in having aggressive tax legislation, it's essential to be aware of the rules both in Norway and other countries where the company operates. What constitutes a permanent establishment? What transfer pricing model is best for my business? Does the exemption model apply to groups within the EEA?

Emigration
Many are aware of the trend of affluent individuals moving from Norway to more tax-friendly destinations. However, this isn't just a concern for the wealthiest among us. Even the more "common" wealthy, who perhaps have inherited a couple of buildings in Oslo, suddenly find themselves facing negative cash flow, with corporate tax, property tax, wealth tax, and dividend tax to pay. If one doesn't wish to sell assets to pay taxes, emigration may be an option. In that case, it's crucial to thoroughly understand the applicable rules and be meticulously precise with the formalities.
